Refractive Surgery Options

Lens based procedure

ICL / Implants

ICL, also known as Phakic IOLs, is a cutting-edge vision correction procedure that involves implanting micro-thin lenses inside the eye to

correct refractive errors. Unlike contact lenses, which are temporary and require daily insertion, ICLs are placed permanently inside the eye.

The ICL provides better vision than contact lenses as it does not move and can correct cylindrical power in addition to spherical power. ICLs offer

high definition vision without the need for creating a corneal flap or removing corneal tissue, as required in LASIK, SMILE, and other laser vision

correction procedures. ICLs also do not cause corneal dryness commonly seen in standard vision correction procedures. The ICL surgery provides

a safe and effective solution for correcting high refractive errors up to -20D and cylindrical corrections of up to 6D.

BENEFITS OF ICL

  • No dry eyes

  • High definition vision which is sharp and crisp

  • Excellent Night Vision

  • Preferred choice in thin corneas

  • UV protection is inbuilt in ICL

  • A typically quick, 15-minute procedure and most people can resume daily activities in just a few short days with clearer vision

  • It’s meant to be permanent but can be removed

ICL lenses are manufactured in Switzerland and the USA, and are custom-made based on the individual's eye measurements. The lens is typically delivered by courier within two weeks after the order is placed. There are two types of ICL lenses available: the ICL Spherical lens corrects only spherical refractive errors, while the ICL Toric lens corrects both cylindrical and spherical refractive errors, providing a comprehensive solution for vision correction.

LASER PROCEDURES/CORNEAL BASED PROCEDURES

This can be further divided as 3 types of  laser eye surgery. In this a layer of the cornea called the stroma is reshaped so that the light focuses

more accurately on the retina.

STANDARD LASIK

This is the base standard for LASIK surgery. Under this method, the cornea flap is created using a blade.

FEMTOLASIK (Blade free)

It is an advanced version of Standard LASIK and the most high-level LASIK surgery today. Instead of using a blade to create the

corneal flap, a Femtosecond laser is used to create the flap. The whole process is completely automated. A high level of protection

and efficiency is guaranteed with Femto LASIK.

SMILE

SMILE is a flapless, bladeless, and dressings-free surgery. The recovery takes a few days, about 7 – 10 days. The dry eye aftereffects of the surgery are less with a SMILE.

CONTOURA VISION

An improvement in spectacle removal surgery also recognized by Contoura LASIK. The high level of accuracy with the surgery is majorly due to the topographical mapping of the eye. Contoura works on the visual axis rather than the pupillary axis. This treatment on the visual axis brings intensified visual clarity.

ICL SURGERY -- ANIMATED VIDEO

Refractive surgery is a safe surgery for vision correction or eyeglasses removal. It is a corrective eye surgery done to treat abnormal conditions ofthe eye like Myopia, Hyperopia, and Astigmatism. This can be corneal/Laser procedure or lens based procedure .
